Goalkeeper Shahidul Alam Sohel will return to Dhaka tomorrow after he failed to overcome an injury he carried with him into the tournament.
His place will be filled by Ziaur Rahman Zia who flew to Nepal yesterday evening.
The team management had no options other than sending Sohel back to Bangladesh after his injury status remained unchanged yesterday.
While most of the teams have confirmed their final 20 Bangladesh head coach Lodewijk de Kruif still has not decided his 20 players and the injury to Sohel compounded his miseries. Sohel obtained the injury during a practice session in Kathmandu on Monday and has not attended practice since then. Skipper Mamunul Islam is still nursing an injury but he is improving every day.
However the good news for the national team was attacking midfielder Sohel Rana responded well to his therapy and is staying with the team. Fitness coach Muhammet Yamali supervised Sohel Rana’s practice session and provided the green signal to keep him with the team. Bangladesh will announce their final 20 member squad tomorrow.
