Bangladesh women's football team suffered a 4-0 goal defeat to higher-ranked Chinese Taipei in the first match of the two-game FIFA Women's Series (Tier-1) held at Bashundhara Kings Arena Friday.
The visitors, who are 100 places ahead of Bangladesh in the FIFA ranking, dominated the match and earned a facile victory.
Taking a 3-0 lead at the first half, the visiting team added one more goal in the second half to seal the victory.
Sabina Khatun and Co, who have been practising on turf round the year, came to play on the grass field and helplessly surrendered to Chinese Taipei.
Bangladesh have never played any game against Chinese Taipei before.
Bangladesh's debut against the new opponent was not pleasant.
The local crowd expected a better performance from the Bangladeshi girls who finished the domestic league a few days ago.
In the 62nd minute, Bangladesh got a scoring opportunity for the first time but Monika Chakma's shot from the left went out of play after hitting the crossbar.
The second and final encounter between the two sides will be held Monday at the same venue.
