Sauravi Akanda Prity’s first-half brace helped Bangladesh kick off their SAFF Under-16 Women’s Championship 2024 campaign with a comfortable 2-0 win over hosts Nepal at Chyasal Stadium in Kathmandu Saturday.
The visitors dominated from the beginning and after at least two attempts went straight to the Nepalese goalkeeper, Prity broke the deadlock in the 24th minute.
Prity found the back of the net with a calm finish from close range after collecting a through pass from Sathi Munda.
Starting up front, Prity and Alfi Akter looked dangerous as the latter earned a penalty at the half-hour mark which was converted by Prity to double the lead.
Earlier in the inaugural match of the four-team competition Friday, India hammered Bhutan 7-0 riding on a hat-trick by Anuksha Kumari.
Bangladesh will face India in their next match at the same venue, also known as ANFA Complex, Tuesday before taking on Bhutan three days later.
The top two finishers of the group will contest the final on March 10.
