U19 girls turn attention to final with 100% record

Defending champions Bangladesh will play India in the final Thursday

Holders Bangladesh reached the final of the four-nation South Asian Football Federation Under-19 Women's Championship 2024 with an all-win record.

The experimental home team beat bottom side Bhutan 4-0 at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sipahi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka's Kamalapur Tuesday.

Defending champions Bangladesh, who assured the final berth with one match to spare after defeating neighbors India 1-0 in their second league game last Sunday, will play India again in the final Thursday at the same venue.

The title-deciding final between the two rivals will kick off at 6pm.

Bangladesh fielded their second string team, resting nine regular players, but faced no trouble against Bhutan, leading 2-0 at the first half interval.

Oeyshi Khatun netted twice for Bangladesh in the 31st and 63rd minute, while Nushrat Jahan and Trishna Rani scored one each, in the 18th and 58th minute respectively.

Earlier in the day's first match, India eliminated Nepal, beating the Himalayan nation 4-0.
