Mohammad Ridoy recorded his first goal in a Sky Blue jersey as Abahani Limited returned to winning ways in the ABG Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League beating Police FC 2-1 in Mymensingh Friday.

Since joining Abahani in 2019, Ridoy made more than 30 appearances playing mainly as defensive midfielder and broke into the national team’s regular starting XI.

His five-year wait for the goal ended in charming fashion as the 22-year old curved into the top right corner from the far left side to double Abahani’s lead six minutes after the break.

Brazilian midfielder Jonathan Fernandes earlier capitalized on a blunder from Police defence to open the scoring in the 12th minute.

Defender Asaduzzaman Bablu scored an own goal in the 65th minute but Police did not carry enough threat to get the equalizer.

In the day’s other encounter, Rahmatganj MFS held Sheikh Russel KC to a goalless draw to secure their sixth consecutive stalemate.
