Update : 16 Aug 2013, 04:56 PM

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club have brought in two foreign players for trials, who arrived in the city along with Haitian star striker Sony Norde and coach Joseph Afusi yesterday morning. Former Bangladesh national team trainer Ariel Colman also arrived yesterday to take charge of Jamal’s training staffs.

Sony, who was generally considered the best player of the Bangladesh Premier League last season and won treble with Sheikh Russell, was wanted by many but chose to play for Sheikh Jamal. Jamal secured the Haitian goal-scoring machine at a cost of Tk6m. Sony was supposed to have come with his countryman midfielder Jean Alexandre, but Jamal mananger Anwarul Karim Helal said Alexandre would be arriving in 4-5 days.

Sony, however, was accompanied by Anselme Wedson, who played for the Haiti top division club Aigle Noir AC last season as a midfielder. Aigle scored eight goals last least and according to Sheikh Jamal’s assistant manager, can also play as a forward.

Alli Abdullahi, another player who arrived in Jamal’s den for trial yesterday, is a Nigerian born footballer who has played in several non-division clubs in England. Helal said that both Wedson and Ali would be assessed before a decision is made about including them in the squad or not.

“We will see if they can fit into the squad. We will sign quality players this season and bring four or five more players for the trial. Alexandre will arrive in 4-5 days,” said Helal yesterday.

Sheikh Jamal, who finished second in every professional tournaments last season except the Super Cup, are also close to signing top local players like Md Linkon, Mamunul Islam, Raihan Hasan, Nasiruddin Chowdhury, Yamin Munna, Kesto Kumar, Toklis Ahmed, Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan, Sohel Rana and Shakahwat Hossain Rony.
