The fans of Jamal Bhuiyan were not at their happiest when the Bangladesh captain was unable to say hello to Argentina’s World Cup winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez from close distance but the same is not going to happen when Brazilian great Ronaldinho visits Dhaka Wednesday.
The organizer responsible for Martinez’s maiden tour of Bangladesh is also bringing Ronaldinho for the first time to the country and called Jamal earlier to arrange a face-to-face meeting with the 2002 World Cup winner.
“The Indian man who will bring Ronaldinho to Bangladesh called me,” said the Bangladesh skipper during the pre-match press conference of Tuesday’s World Cup qualifying play-off against the Maldives at the Kings Arena.
Jamal did not mention the name of the caller but it is anticipated that the person could be Shatadru Dutta, the sports entrepreneur who also brought Pele and Diego Maradona to Kolkata.
The 33-year old midfielder, who joined Argentine club Sol de Mayo recently, also said Ronaldinho is one of his most favorite footballers since 2002.
“Of course, I will meet one of my idols because when I watched 2002 World Cup I fell in love with Ronaldinho. So it will be great moment for me but at the moment I’m focusing on (Tuesday’s) match.”
