Bangladesh women’s football team opened their Asian Games 2023 campaign with an 8-0 loss to former world champions Japan in Friday’s Group D match at Wenzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium in Hangzhou.
Chiba Remina (seventh and 15th minute), Tanikawa (eighth and 77th minute) and Sakakibara Kotana (56th and 82nd minute) scored a brace each while Shiokoshi and Hijikata netted one goal apiece on the stroke of the first half whistle and 47th minute respectively.
The women in red and green will next take on Vietnam Monday and Nepal Thursday at the same venue.
