A total of 10 players of Bangladesh Football Federation Elite Football Academy will be on auction for the first time in front of the premier league clubs Saturday afternoon.
The federation claimed in a press release Friday that it will be the first time in Bangladesh that the local footballers will be on auction following demand from the top-flight clubs.
A source told Dhaka Tribune that three-four premier league clubs, including the ones who finished in the top five last season and newly promoted Brothers Union, showed interest to sign those players.
More than one club wanted to recruit the same player which prompted the BFF to put all of them on auction.
These young players represented BFF Elite Academy team in the last two editions of the Bangladesh Championship League, the second-tier league, and helped the club finish runners-up last season.
The players have been divided into two categories – six in category A and four in category B.
The minimum price for each player in the first category is Tk5 lakh while it is Tk4 lakh for the second category.
The auction ceremony will be held at Ruposhi Bangla Grand Ballroom of Hotel Intercontinental in the capital.
The players under category A are goalkeeper Mohammad Asif, defender Azizul Haque Ananto, midfielders Sajed Hasan Jumman Nijhum, Chandan Roy, forwards Mohammad Mirajul Islam and Asadul Molla.
Defenders Sirajul Islam Rana, Mohammad Rubel Sheikh, Mohammad Imran Khan and forward Sree Suman Saren are placed in category B.
