The 16th Ascent Corporate Cup is set to raise the curtain Thursday with the participation of 45 teams.

The tournament this year will kick off at 5:30pm at Syed Tanveer Murshed Gymnasium in Ascent Group's subsidiary Scholastica School Uttara Campus.

All the matches will be played at the same venue.

The final will be held on August 5 and prior to the game an exhibition match will be held which will be the “Power of She”, a tagline suggesting that the game of football is no longer a male gender sport and that the female executives too have a playing platform to excel and master the game.

Two teams comprising female players will engage in a competitive match to show off their mettle and skills on the pitch.

Last year's Cup champions Bando will be fighting to retain the trophy.

The matches are 10 minutes each half and played by five players in each team with three substitutes on the bench per side.

The event is a platform for executives to bond with teammates and also interact and network with people in various industries, because football is a spectating activity, the Ascent Cup attracts friends, family and colleagues together for a week of festivities, fun and good cheer enjoyed by players and supporters.

The Ascent Corporate Cup started at International School Dhaka in 2006 with 24 corporate houses participating to play indoor 5-a-side futsal styled football.

The Ascent Group, a renowned corporate entity in the business world, has been the title sponsor since the inception of the tournament.

The concept was taken from renowned Sports Management company Highlife India's “Merchant's Cup” format which was introduced by them decades ago in Kolkata.

Over the years, the Ascent Corporate Cup has been played back-to-back with the exception of 2020 and 2021 due to Covid.
