Bangladesh Cricket Board has come forward to support the ailing former Bangladesh national football team captain Mohammad Mohsin.

BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury informed that the board has decided to make all support available to Mohsin as he struggles financially and physically.

BCB has agreed to the humanitarian move following recent media reports on the 60-year old star goalkeeper of the 1980s and 90s who lives in Dhaka with his brother.

“BCB always stands by people from any discipline in the sports arena if they are in trouble. Mohsin bhai's matter is similar case and it has come to the board president's [Nazmul Hasan] notice. As per his instructions, we are taking measures to give Mohsin bhai all the support needed,” said Nizamuddin to the media at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium Tuesday.

Nizamuddin further revealed that BCB boss Nazmul has clearly instructed to offer help to the former footballer.

“His [Mohsin] family hasn't directly asked for any financial help. They have talked about his physical condition and we want to have him physically assessed as soon as possible. We have also instructed our legal advisors to extend legal help to him regarding disputes over his land and property,” said the BCB CEO.

Mohsin, who was once considered a style icon and vigilant guard under the goal bar, has lost his mental stability and deprived from proper treatment due to lack of money.

He is currently living in a flat in the capital's Siddheswari Circular Road in relative obscurity.
