Emiliano Martinez, the World Cup winning goalkeeper of Argentina football team, is most likely to visit Dhaka on July 3 this year, according to sports promoter Satadru Dutta from Kolkata, India.
“It's 95% certain that he [Martinez] is coming. He will land in Dhaka on July 3. Then he will visit Kolkata the following day. That's what he agreed. What is not finalized is what would be his plan in Dhaka,” Satadru told Dhaka Tribune.
Satadru has been working to bring Martinez to Kolkata for two days on July 4 and 5 since he met the World Cup hero in London on May 13.
Martinez himself has showed interest to visit Bangladesh, according to the sports entrepreneur.
“I met him Saturday last week. He told me that he knew about a huge group of Argentina fans in Bangladesh. He wants to come to Bangladesh. He asked me to work on this if there is any commercial liability,” he added.
Martinez had a vibrant presence between the sticks during Argentina's World Cup winning campaign in Qatar last year as he was adjudged the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Martinez currently plays for English outfit Aston Villa.
