Jamal eye Haitian Alexandre

Update : 15 Jul 2013, 06:07 PM

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club are confident of signing Haiti national midfielder Jean Alexandre from Orlando City SC to bolster their squad for the next season.

The 26-year-old midfielder played for MLS side Real Salt Lake for two seasons from 2009-11. Alexandre is also capable of playing as a forward as he appeared for the national team on 24 occasions scoring twice.

Arguably the best player of last season, Sheikh Russell striker Sony Norde recommended the Haitian to Jamal. The club officials said the player is even better than Sony.

Sony, who was earlier roped in for a record wage, is expected to arrive in Dhaka in the first week of August with Alexandre, informed Sheikh Jamal manager Anwarul Karim Helal. Jamal are also heading towards signing Russell’s Mamunul Islam, Mamun Mia, Uttam Banik and Linkon.

Super Cup star Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan, Yeasin, Sohel Rana and Tapu Barman from Mohammedan along with rising star forward Toklis Ahmed and Abahani forward Shakhawat Hossain Rony are also expected to sign for the Dhanmondi based club.

Sheikh Jamal finished runners-up in the last Bangladesh Premier League and reached the Federation Cup and Independence Cup final, but lost the title to Sheikh Russell on all occasions.
