New football kid on the block

Farhan Khan, a US based Bangladeshi player, joined the national football camp on a trial basis on July 8.   Farhan, who was a student at the International School Dhaka (ISD), left for USA for higher studies a few years ago and has claimed he plays football there. Learning about the Dutch head coach Lodewijk de Kruif’s intention of including foreign based footballers in the national team Farhan arrived at the capital and joined the camp.   However, he will be subject to scrutiny. “He has just joined the camp and the coaches will be watching him for a few days. If he gets their nod then he will be included in the national fold,” said Abu Naeem Shohag, the general secretary of Bangladesh Football Federation.   It was learnt that BFF coach Jahidur Rahman Milon, who is assisting the Dutch coaches, was Farhan’s coach in his school days. Farhan said he believes in himself and hopes to win a slot in the national fold.
