Bangladesh Premier League outfit Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited have been invited verbally to play an away friendly football match against Argentine club Gimnasia de La Plata.
A representative of the South American club named Sebastian Gubia travelled all the way to visit the Dhanmondi club ground and convey the invitation.
The former top-flight champions are taking the matter seriously as club secretary Md Foyezur Rahman admitted that they are fascinated by the offer.
“Definitely, we are interested. It will give the local players a huge experience,” said the Sheikh Jamal official, adding that they want to sit for more discussion with Sebastian before commenting further.
It was learned that Sheikh Jamal's Argentine trainer Ariel Colman is responsible for co-ordinating the initial meeting.
Sebastian is accompanied by his wife Carolina Chel in Dhaka.
He worked for Gimnasia, the club Diego Maradona managed before his death.
