Update : 07 Jul 2013, 01:00 PM

Club 11 emerged as champions of the third Underground Champions League futsal tournament that ended at the Abahani ground on Saturday. Tanin scored the only goal in the exciting final that saw his side Club 11 edge past Deadly Alliance 1-0.

Club 11 squandered several chances while Alliance also took a defensive approach in the final. The 30-minute game rolled into extra time after the stipulated time ended goalless, but two minutes into the first-half of extra time Tanin netted the winner from a counter attack.

‘Underground football’ is usually popular amongst the youth as it is a stage where no professional footballers are allowed to play. 32 teams participated in the 5-a-side format competition that was played over a week. Several prizes were given away among which the under-20 player of the tournament award went to Nibrash of FC Poseidon. Rony of Club 11 became the highest scorer of the tournament with 13 goals while the Fair Play award went to Lycans FC.

The tournament was organised by Akbor Haider Munna. Former national footballer Sheikh Mohammad Aslam was present as chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners.
