Update : 09 Jan 2023, 07:48 PM

Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin said they are trying to bring world champions Argentina football team in Bangladesh during the Fifa international window in June-July this year.

Last time, Argentina team came to Bangladesh in 2011 when Lionel Messi and Co played a friendly against Nigeria at the fully-packed Bangabandhu National Stadium on September 6.

The renovation work of BNS is currently in full pace but the federation is hopeful that it would finish by June-July.

“We want to bring Argentina. Nothing is fixed yet. We are trying,” Salahuddin told the media during a press briefing at BFF House Monday.

“I talked to the sports minister about the Bangabandhu stadium which will be ready before June-July. It's not possible in March's Fifa window. We are trying for June-July,” he added.

The opponent is also not finalized yet as Salahuddin said they want to confirm Argentina first before deciding who they will play against.

Salahuddin also said they initially tried to bring French giants Paris Saint Germain along with Messi but later changed the plan and focused on Argentina team.

The BFF boss also admitted that the expenditure to bring Argentina will be quite expensive but he saw no problem to give it a try.
