Expat footballer leaves camp

Update : 03 Jul 2013, 03:55 PM

Ananda Rahman, the Australia based footballer who aspired to play for the Bangladesh, pulled out of the national camp citing personal reasons Wednesday.

Ananda, who joined the camp three days back, arrived at the morning training session in casual dress and assistant coach Syed Golam Jilani asked what was wrong. Ananda said he wanted to leave the camp as he found the conditions too difficult to cope with. Jilani asked him to inform the manager Iqbal Hossain as he does not hold the authority to let him go. Ananda later informed the manager and also Dutch assistant coach Rene Koster before leaving the camp.

Ananda said that the conditions were too hot for him. He had shared a room with Denmark based Jamal Bhuiyan and goalkeeping coach Jahidur Rahman Milon and was exhausted on Tuesday after a full-fledged practice match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Manager Iqbal Hossain admitted that he was aware of the matter. “Ananda called me and I asked him to explain his cause to Rene Koster and he left the camp willingly,” said the former national defender.

Rene Koster said Ananda failed to match the professional standards and was not up to the mark. Another expatriate Reasat Khaton is expected to join the camp on July 10.

Jamal Bhuiyan meanwhile has adjusted to the conditions and the tough midfielder looks forward to earn a place in the national fold. “Everything is going good and I am working hard to earn my place, I know only I can help myself to reach my goal” said Jamal.

Meanwhile wing back Linkon felt sick and was rushed to the hospital after the two and half hour long morning training session. Linkon suffered severe cramps throughout his body as he did not disclose he was suffering from fever and was a victim of severe dehydration.  “His legs, stomach muscles - all were cramped. He was rushed to the hospital and is in stable condition. Nothing is wrong with him now,” said Iqbal.

Dutch head coach Lodewijk de Kruif will arrive Friday and he will decide that where the national camp will be based. It was planned that the camp would be based in a remote place for intensive training.
