Here are nine rising stars, all aged below 25, who lit up the 22nd edition of the Fifa World Cup:
Julian Alvarez (Argentina)
The 22-year old moved from River Plate to Manchester City this year and is yet to get much game time in Pep Guardiola's star-studded squad. But he marked his name in Sky Blue jersey with four goals before the final to stay in the contention for Golden Boot award.
Aurelien Tchouameni (France)
Another 22-year old, the Real Madrid midfielder switched to the Spanish giants from Monaco this year and is yet to get a goal at his new club in 12 appearances. He however, already scored a stunner for Les Bleus in the crucial England quarter tie and doing a fine job so far in defensive midfield in the absence of first choice pair Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante.
Enzo Fernandez (Argentina)
Clubs like Real, Barcelona and Liverpool were already interested in the 21-year old youngster who made his move to Benfica this summer. With a series of brilliant performances at the first ever Arab World Cup, the midfielder shone never like before, also giving a reason as to why his release clause is valued at 120m euros.
Josko Gvardiol (Croatia)
The 20-year old was one of the standout performers in the tournament before facing Lionel Messi in the semi-final. The RB Leipzig center-back though has already done enough to catch the interest from big clubs in Europe.
Azzedine Ounahi (Morocco)
Perhaps the best player of Morocco, Sofyan Amrabat has been left off the list because of his age but his midfield partner Ounahi has also earned the right to deserve a place. It's now a matter of time only when the 22-year old leaves Angers for a bigger club after the way he performed in Qatar.
Goncalo Ramos (Portugal)
With Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench, the 21-year-old made his first start in a Portugal jersey and took the world by storm with an electric hat-trick, the only treble of the meet, and emerged as a star overnight. Liverpool already reportedly showed interest in signing the youngster from Benfica.
Cody Gakpo (Netherlands)
The 23-year old winger exhibited an all-round display with a goal in all three group stage matches to emerge as one of the first breakout stars of the tournament. A big move from PSV is on the cards with Manchester United leading the race for his signature.
Mohammed Kudus (Ghana)
Along with wonderful skills and pace, the 22-year old also netted two goals to lead the way for the Black Stars. The attacking midfielder had a couple of Everton offers denied last summer but in the coming days, Ajax may struggle to keep hold of the jewel of Africa.
Ritsu Doan (Japan)
Japan's stunning show against Germany and Spain was marked by crucial contribution from Doan, who came off the bench on both occasions to score and seal dramatic wins. His performance against Croatia in the Round of 16 was also impressive and those displays paved the way for Roma and Man City to weigh up potential bids in January for the 24-year old.
