Argentina World Cup winner Ruggeri sends love to Bangladesh

Bangladesh's passion for the Albiceleste has fascinated the Argentine people, who are grateful for the mad support

Update : 15 Dec 2022, 10:22 PM

Bangladesh's craziness for the Argentina football team is very official these days and former and current Argentine players are not feeling shy in showing their gratitude in return.

One of their biggest stars, Lionel Messi already acknowledged Bangladesh and its people in their first game against Saudi Arabia after a journalist of Ole, a daily Argentine newspaper, asked him about this "love" from countries like Bangladesh and India, among others.

In reply, Messi said, "Thanks for this feeling."

Their coach Lionel Scaloni was also queried by Diego Korol from Argentine radio station D Sports before the Australia game about his thoughts on the huge and crazy fanbase far away in Bangladesh after various footage and news of celebrations of Argentina fans from the South Asian country cheering on the team went viral across the globe.

"For many years now, with Diego (Maradona) with Leo (Lionel Messi) the jersey has always generated hysteria, for the colors, for the Argentine passion," said Scaloni.

In another Argentina game, Oscar Ruggeri, 1986 World Cup winner, was seen enjoying some snacks just before entering the stadium.

When approached by this reporter, the former defender initially looked uninterested as he is not comfortable in English.

But hearing the name Bangladesh, the teammate of the great Diego Maradona, asked his friend accompanying him to translate.

“A big greeting to all of you there (in Bangladesh), the Argentinians also love you,” said the 60-year old in a video message.

He also acknowledged that people in Argentina are well aware of this support, and that they are grateful.
