Tribune held by Radio Today

Update : 29 Jun 2013, 04:54 PM

Dhaka Tribune staged a comeback, but still fell short of the winning formula in their first match of the Kool-BSJA Media Cup Football. They were held to a 1-1 draw by Radio Today at the artificial turf of Bangladesh Football Federation yesterday. Shafi of Radio Today, who was adjudged as the man of the match, scored early in the first-half, but Dhaka Tribune, inspired by the presence of its editor Zafar Sobhan, came back strong after the interval and restored the parity through Shamsur Rahman in the second-half. Forward Fazley Rabbi Moon’s one to one miss in the dying stage denied Tribune a winning start in the 24-team media tourney. Dhaka Tribune faces Manavkantha in their last group match today. In the other matches of the day, Bangla Vision beat Naya Diganta 2-0, Channel 24 edged past Gazi TV by 2-1 goals, Daily Star routed Manavzamin 4-0, ATN News defeated BSS 1-0, Channel i thrashed New Nation 8-0 and RTV down Boishakhi TV 1-0. Maasranga TV and SATV played a 1-1 tie. BFF senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy inaugurated the meet as the chief guest. Malik Md. Sayeed, the head of marketing of Square Toiletries, was the special guest.
