Sabina urges countrymen not to ruin their happiness

Netizens are saying administrators and officials are hogging all the limelight

Bangladesh women’s football team captain Sabina Khatun urged her fellow countrymen not to ruin the happiest day of their lives by spreading negativity on social media.

Following their arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Kathmandu, Nepal where the women’s football team won the Saff Championship for the first time, the booters posed for photographs standing at the staircase alongside the guests who welcomed them home.

Photos went viral on social media however, showing the women footballers standing in the background with the Bangladesh Football Federation officials and law enforcement authorities at the front.

And after the champion girls set foot at BFF House in Motijheel, Sabina and Bangladesh head coach Golam Rabbani Choton briefed the media at a press conference before moving to the background, making way for the likes of State Minister for Youth and Sports Jahid Ahsan Russel and other BFF officials to sit at the front.

This too went viral on social media as the netizens claimed the administrators were hogging all the limelight, consigning Sabina and Choton to the background.

But Sabina Thursday persuaded Bangladesh fans not to paint this in a negative light, and in the process mar their happiness.

She wrote on Facebook, “It’s my humble request not to take this in a negative way. Please don’t ruin the happiest day of our life by pointing it in a negative sight! Let’s be positive and enjoy! That’s all I want to say, we love you!
