Dhaka Tribune sports team interviewed him and here are some of his excerpts:
First of all, I am grateful to Allah for bestowing me with the success of being the world No 1 in the Bundesliga Fantasy League 2021-22. I believe that any success in human life comes with two factors: 1) human effort and 2) Allah’s will. I also believe that human effort must come first.
Talking about human effort, I want to say that I love football. I love playing football in field, I love playing Fifa, I love watching football games, I love talking about football with friends thereby, I love fantasy football. In a word, football is my passion like many more. I have started playing Fantasy Premier League) from season 2018-19. This is my second Bundesliga fantasy season. I started playing Bundesliga fantasy in 2020 when the coronavirus pandemic was horrible worldwide. I remember that Bundesliga was the first league in the world to resume behind closed doors.
I want to mention one key difference between FPL and Bundesliga fantasy. FPL points are significantly result-based, whereas Bundesliga fantasy points are effort-based. For example: if Liverpool lose a clean sheet, Virgil van Dijk gets two points, but in Bundesliga fantasy, he would score points for on duels won, interception, goal attempts etc., despite losing CS. I find, scoring in Bundesliga fantasy reflects the actual game more.
I can write and talk about football and fantasy football all day long, but people may get bored. Before ending, I want to imply one thing, please be careful about mental health and fantasy football. Sometimes, it gets really tough to consume that “my player” is not getting the expected points and I am falling behind in rank. Remember, health comes first and fantasy football is our passion. It is for enjoyment, don’t let it depress you. I find a lot of similarities between fantasy football and real life, where there is a gap between expectation and reality. This gap can sometimes be narrow, can sometimes be wide. No matter what, you will have to get through it. One thing I have learned and do is, lowering my expectation of getting points. Ultimately, you are clicking the buttons and not everything is in your hands. So, love fantasy football but do not make it life. I dedicate the crown of Bundesliga Fantasy League 2021-22 to my mother (she is the best).
P.S: I am an Arsenal supporter since 2000 (the golden age during Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Co.). As an Arsenal supporter, my expectation has already been lowered for a long time.
