Update : 17 Jun 2013, 06:18 PM
Brothers’ newly hired forward Jewel Rana continued his dream run with two goals to lead Brothers Union to a 2-1 victory over Team BJMC in the Grameenphone Super Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium Monday.   A fabulous diving header from Jewel at the quarter-hour mark gave Brothers the lead, before Toklis pulled one back for BJMC on the stroke of half time. Jewel struck again in the 82nd minute to seal the victory that knocked out BJMC from the meet.   Jewel was arguably the best player for Wari in the recently concluded Bangladesh Championship League and the young striker benefited from the ineligibility of foreign players in the Super Cup by. Brothers hired him for the event and in the short time since, Jewel has earned everyone’s attention by scoring three goals in two matches - one against Sheikh Jamal in the opener which ended in a draw, and two in Monday’s winning effort.   The youngsters from both sides put in a sophisticated performance throughout the game. Brothers’ forward line of Yousuf Sifat, Jewel Rana and Titu created continuous pressure upfront while Toklis showed some skill down the left flank for BJMC.   Sifat continued to be a threat from the left and the promising forward created the first goal scoring opportunity just four minutes into the game. Ten minutes later, he set up the opening goal, which Jewel finished with diving header that gave goalie Aminul no chance.   BJMC forward Toklis restored the parity four minutes before the break with a powerful strike from the box. BJMC were able to hold off Brothers’ aggressive game until the 82nd minute, when a brilliant build-up play saw Jewel score his second of the evening. Jewel passed the ball to Rubel , who drove into the penalty area before passing back to Jewel in the middle, who smashed the ball home from close range.
