Country’s next football season 2013-14 is scheduled to begin from August 16 this year and end on June 30 next year, announced Bangladesh Football Federation senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy yesterday.
The one month local players’ transfer window will take place from August 16 to September 16 while the deadline for signing a foreign player is November 15, revealed the professional league committee chairman Murshedy after a meeting at the BFF House yesterday.
“The foreign players’ quota will remain unchanged. Each club can register seven foreigners while four of them will be legible to play in a match,” said the former national forward.
However, the yearly was not announced and it is expected that the league committee will announce the calendar in a couple of weeks. The season is likely to kick-off with the Federation Cup in late November or early December, just after the conclusion of the foreigners’ registration.
Earlier, it was decided to prohibit BFF executive members from entering the field during a match, but the decision was reversed in the meeting. Executive members can now be at the field as a representative of a club and the rule is applicable from the Super Cup, which is getting underway in two days.
However, a written application asking for the permission must be submitted to the BFF first. The decision will benefit Mohammedan manager Amirul Islam Babu and Abahani manager Satyajit Das Rupu as the duo were barred to enter the field for being a member of the executive committee.
On the other hand, the two clubs from Bangladesh have not yet confirmed their participation in the Kings Cup scheduled in Bhutan in late July. The league committee decided not to leave any national player for the eight-club meet.
Therefore, clubs agreeing with the term will receive the green signal to go through.
