BFF hopes to renew sponsorship deal with Grameenphone

Update : 11 May 2013, 05:30 PM

The Bangladesh Football Federation is looking forward to renewing their contract with their prime sponsor Grameenphone, as the existing three year deal between the parties comes to an end on May 31. Grameenphone has been associated with BFF since 2010 and the deal was worth Tk. 80m per annum. With the new season looming the BFF has started to sketch out ways to keep Grameenphone involved. They reportedly provided all footage and paper cuttings of their activities, involving the largest cellular operator in the country for the last three years, and GP is expected to review the coverage in their next board meeting. BFF reportedly expects an increase to the financial deal but a lot will depend on GP’s board. The BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag hopes to welcome GP for a new deal in the near future. “We are hopeful of continuing the relationship with GP and we are working on it. Bangladeshi football will explore new horizons in the next three years and we have provided all the details to GP and are expecting positive feedback,” said Shohag. Tahmid Azizul Haque, the head of corporate communications for GP however was careful when commenting on the subject. “As we have said earlier, we are happy with the association with BFF, but at the moment we are not in a position to say whether the deal will be renewed or not, it will take another couple of months before we reach the end of the tunnel,” said Tahmid. BFF will not be required to use GP on their logos effective from June 1, as their agreement ends on May 31. Even so they have decided to go on with the existing logo in the FIFA international friendlies against India and Pakistan in England next month. BFF will continue using GP in their logo with a hope to continue the relationship with their sponsors.
