Bangladesh Football Federation vice president and national teams committee chairman Kazi Nabil Ahmed expressed hope that Bangladesh would play the final of the upcoming Saff Championship.
The five-nation regional tournament kicks off on October 1 this year in Male with the top two teams from the round-robin league facing off in the title decider in the Maldives capital.
Ahead of their first game against Sri Lanka on the opening day, the national team will undergo a camp in Dhaka starting Tuesday, initially with 34 footballers.
"We had good preparation in Kyrgyzstan (Three Nations Cup). All the footballers have played throughout the year. All the players are fit. I hope we play the Saff final," said Nabil to Bangla Tribune after a discussion with BFF president Kazi Salahuddin regarding the national side's preparation.
Nabil added that the BFF is awaiting clearance from world football governing body Fifa for Bashundhara Kings' Nigerian striker Eleta Kingsley, who received a Bangladesh passport earlier this year and has been named in Bangladesh's preliminary Saff Championship squad.
