Magura girls win JFA Cup 2020

JFA Cup 2020 was the first official football competition to be held in Bangladesh during the Covid-19 pandemic

Magura emerged as the unbeaten champion of the JFA Cup U-14 National Women’s Football Championship 2020 after beating Rangpur 3-1 in the final Monday. 

It was Rangpur who went ahead in the game after a goal from Khadiza by the quarter hour mark before Magura staged a comeback at Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium in Rajshahi. 

Captain Nabiran Khatun, who was latter adjudged player of the final, netted two goals in the 20th and 48th minute while Arpita Biswas added the other in the 64th minute to seal the victory.  

Arpita finished as the top scorer of the final round with nine goals.

The country’s first football competition during the Covid-19 pandemic, JFA U-14 National Women’s Football Championship 2020 kicked off with the participation of 49 district teams at seven regional venues.

Her teammate Subarna Khatun became the player of the tournament while Reshmi Akhter of Rangpur was named most promising player.

Rajshahi city corporation mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton was present at the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners while district commissioner Abdul Jalil graced the occasion as special guest.

JFA Cup 2020, which kicked off across the country on November 3, was the first official football competition to be held in Bangladesh during the Covid-19 pandemic.
