Bangladesh head coach Jamie Day said his charges have to play extremely well to put on a good performance and make things difficult for Qatar when they take on the host Friday.
The English tactician took charge of the team as well as the practice sessions for the first time in over two weeks due to Covid-19 and is set to return to the dugout for the crucial tie.
“It’s a really good game to be involved in and a great experience for the players. It’s going to be extremely tough game but one we are looking forward to is, hopefully we can perform to the best of our abilities and make Bangladesh very proud,” Day said through a video message from the Qatari capital.
He continued, “It’s difficult match because Qatar are expecting to win but for us, it’s about making sure we would put in a good performance and make it difficult for them to get the result which they should get. And you never know in football, you could get that one chance and take it.”
Bangladesh team began training on October 23 this year after a long break of seven months for the pandemic.
Bangladesh would need a miracle if they get a point against Qatar Friday, but that’s not the goal for the visiting side...

They played two Fifa friendlies against Nepal on November 13 and 17 before two more practice matches on November 25 and 28 against Qatar local outfits in Doha.
The 41-year old coach said, “They have good preparation over here. The facilities have been very good. We would have liked a couple of more weeks and a couple of more games. But the boys are in the best possible shape they can get in the time frame.”
Day’s side gave the Asian champion a run for their money before the visiting side won the first leg in Dhaka.
He admitted that the conditions would not be the same now and they have to play extremely well.
“It will be in a fantastic pitch so we know that this condition will favor Qatar. We have to play extremely well, and we worked hard over the last five weeks to get to that point.”
The second round Group E fixture of the 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup joint qualification fixture is scheduled to be held at Aspire Zone Friday night.
