Bangladesh football team head coach Jamie Day expressed satisfaction on the eve of their first of two Fifa friendlies against Nepal, scheduled to be held Friday at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.

“Team preparation has gone very well. The boys have trained hard last three weeks. It’s pretty good improvement and I’m pleased with the level they have adapted. Credit to the players for what they have done in short space of time,” said Day in his initial speech in the pre-match press conference.

The English tactician commented on the opponent, “They are a very good team. They have some very good and attacking players. They are going to be tough to break down. But we worked hard and our fitness radically improved in that time so we are looking forward to play, win and bring back football after long time.”

He said, “It was a big gap in the pandemic situation. We prepared in short time. I hope both teams will enjoy the match and have good performance as individual and as team for the upcoming joint qualifying games.”

Bangladesh captain and midfielder Jamal Bhuiyan said, “We are not 100% yet but we have been practicing last three weeks so hopefully we will win the match.

“The most important thing is to get match fit. But of course as a player I want to win. Everybody wants to win the match. But the focus for (Friday's) game is to become match ready. We lost to Nepal last game so in my head I want to win the match.”

Nepal captain Kiran Chemjong said, “We are really excited to play on this short time because it’s been long time both countries have no football. We will be playing again which is very good. The matches are going to be exciting and competitive. We are ready to fight together for (Friday's) game.”
