Chelsea name Petr Cech in Premier League squad as emergency goalkeeper

Cech formally retired from playing in May 2019 following Arsenal's Europa League final defeat to Chelsea

Chelsea have named retired goalkeeper Petr Cech in their Premier League squad as emergency cover, reports Sky Sports.

The surprise inclusion of the 38-year-old, who now works as the club's technical and performance advisor, has been described by Chelsea as "a precautionary step due to the unprecedented conditions currently caused by the Covid-19 crisis". 

Cech, who has been considered as Chelsea legend, formally retired from playing in May 2019 following Arsenal's Europa League final defeat to Chelsea.
