Bangladesh U-16 girls' football team will leave here for Osaka on Saturday, ahead of their Japan tour where they are scheduled to undergo a week-long residential training camp at J-Green Sakai national training centre.
The Bangladesh girls will focus on boosting their experience, fitness level and sharpening skills in Japan and are set to play at least three friendly matches against local opposition.
The girls in red and green will arrive in Osaka on Sunday and play their first practice match against Osaka Kaisei High School a day later. They will play two more practice matches against Sakai Academy and Osaka Seisho School on Wednesday and Friday respectively before catching the return flight next Saturday.
Bangladesh, who qualified for the 2017 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship for the first time in history, will contest the final round in September in Thailand. The Japan tour is part of their preparation for the prestigious event.
The details of the tour were announced in a press conference at BFF House on Thursday where head coach Golam Rabbani Choton said, “Our main target is to gather experience and prepare the girls before the final round. Training there and playing such big matches would help the girls identify their weaknesses and rectify them. They will be strengthened after the tour.”
Talismanic forward and captain Srimoti Krishna Rani Sarkar echoed the same sentiment, adding that the experience they will gain there would help them to deliver good results in September.
