Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan Manik, contesting for the vice-president’s post of Bangladesh Football Federation for the first time, wants to work on the financial limitations of the federation, as well as support the struggling clubs.

Ataur is one of eight candidates for four vice-president posts in the BFF Election 2020, scheduled to be held Saturday.

The sports organizer cum businessmen is participating in the poll under the banner of Kazi Salahuddin-led Sammilito Parishad or Combined panel.

The vice president of Arambagh Football Academy and Bangladesh Volleyball Federation called a press conference in Dhaka Tuesday to share his thoughts on the election.

“What I realized from my experience as a football organiser is that one of the key burdens of the country’s football development is financial limitations. Many projects and plans of BFF don’t meet the end because of it. I will try my best to get rid of financial problems if elected as vice-president,” said Ataur, the chairman of Toma Group.

“We have to make the district and divisional leagues active. The clubs who are struggling to form clubs would be given sponsorship and support.

“I talked to districts and clubs (representatives). I think the clubs in and outside the capital need a lot of investment to form the squad and run the club.”

When asked if he had any specific plans, he replied, “There are rich people in districts and divisions. We will try to involve them.”
