2017 AFC CUP: Mohun Bagan to set foot in Dhaka Monday

Update : 28 May 2017, 08:37 PM
Kolkata giant Mohun Bagan is all set to arrive in Dhaka on Monday night, ahead of the last match of the 2017 AFC Cup group stage against Bangladesh champion Dhaka Abahani Limited, scheduled to be held at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday. Both the sides have already seen the exit door from the tournament. Abahani have only three points from five matches to sit at the bottom of Group E while Bagan are a place above with six points from the same number of outings. When the Sky Blues travelled to Kolkata for the first leg against Bagan on April 4 this year, they had an unsettled squad, losing a majority of key first-team players from last season and the 3-1 scoreline in favour of the home side was a consequence of poor preparation. Just a month later, Abahani outplayed Indian champion FC Bengaluru 2-0 at home. Meanwhile, Maldives champion Maziya Sports and Recreation Club are leading the group with 12 points, followed by Bengaluru, who have nine points.
