Haji Mohammad Kashem, the vice-president of Bangladesh Premier League club Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society, passed away in Dhaka at 3am Thursday, soon after the veteran organizer was detected as Covid-19 patient.
He was 60.
Kashem was admitted to Birdem Tuesday with fever and cough, and he couldn’t pass the coronavirus test.
He couldn’t hold his breath for much longer after being taken to Kurmitola General Hospital at around 12am.
His body was buried in the graveyard of Khilgaon’s Taltola area in the absence of family members, informed Imtiaz Hamid Sabuj, the general secretary of the club.
Kashem left behind his wife, two sons, a daughter and many well-wishers to mourn the death.

“After being tested positive of coronavirus, Birdem advised to take him to Kurmitola General Hospital where coronavirus treatment is better. He was taken there at 12:20am but died at 3am,” Sabuj told Dhaka Tribune.
Jamal Sardar, the other vice-president of the Old Dhaka outfit, informed that Kashem was taken to another hospital (Green Life) from where he returned home fit but fell ill the next day again.
Rahmatganj, expressing deepest condolence at the passing away of their dedicated organizer and former footballer, distributed daily food essentials to 500 underprivileged families at Haji Ballu Road in Old Dhaka.
Kashem represented Rahmatganj in the Third Division Football League in the 1980s before moving to Fire Service club to play in the Second Division.
He has been an organizer of the club for decades and was selected as vice-president more than once.
