Uttar Baridhara Club’s Leonardo Lima returned from Thailand on Friday and the next day the Brazilian striker played for 37 minutes against Mohammedan Sporting Club in their Premier League match in Dhaka.

The club’s general secretary Md Jahangir Alam however told to Dhaka Tribune that they have kept the player in a separate room and keep him in observation for 14 days to avoid any risk.

“He was substituted off soon after he said that he was feeling weak. He just returned from Thailand the previous day so we decided to isolate him to a single room for 14 days due to the safety of other players.” said Jahangir.

Baridhara head coach Alfaz Ahmed however said that the Brazilian also trained with the team on Monday. “He passed the immigration without any hassle so we thought he is ok. I still think he is safe.”

The club gave the players a week long break as the league is postponed until March 31. Lima is currently staying in a separate room in a hotel near Baridhara.

It was the first game in the ongoing league for Lima who played for Brothers Union last season. He played in the second division of Thailand before coming to Baridhara.
