Bangladesh Championship League, the second-tier league of the country, initially scheduled to kick off on March 28, has been deferred by three months and is now rescheduled to begin on June 15, informed Bangladesh Football Federation citing coronavirus fears.
A view exchange meeting between the BFF and Championship clubs took place at BFF House in Dhaka Tuesday during which the decision was taken.
"We decided to defer the Championship League and extend the transfer window after taking consent from every club, due to coronavirus. The month of Ramadan is also another reason," said Abdus Salam Murshedy, the chairman of the BFF professional league committee.
The deadline of the ongoing transfer window, scheduled to conclude on March 20, has also been extended to April 30.
