Rumky denies Bashundhara bigger win

Bashundhara Kings registered their fourth consecutive victory in the Women’s Football League with a 6-0 win over Kumilla United on Monday but the margin could have been bigger had  Kumilla goalkeeper Ummay Hafsa Rumky did not showcased a sublime performance.

Rumky, who plays both football and athletics and last year set a national record in high-jump event, produced at least half a dozen saves to result lowest-margin win for the Kings who scored 34 goals in last three matches.

Sabina Khatun thus couldn’t get her fourth consecutive hattrick but the national striker yet netted a couple of goals in the 38th and 53rd minute while Maria Manda also scored a brace in the 49th and 60th minute.

It was 14-year-old striker Shaheda Akter Ripa, who started for the first time, opened the scoring in the 21st minute while Tohura Khatun added the other in the 73rd minute.

Meanwhile in the day’s other match, Jamalpur Kacharipara Akadas beat Begum Anwara SC 5-0 with Jannat Islam scoring a hattrick by netting in the 41st, 44th and 93rd minute.
