Malaysian club Telengganu FC are yet to receive $50,000 in prize money for becoming champions of the 3rd Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup 2019, held three-and-half months ago.
Telengganu, who defeated Chattogram Abahani 2-1 in the final in the port city on October 31, has verbally contacted the Bangladesh Football Federation and tournament organizers to solve the issue.
Tarafder Ruhul Amin, vice-president of hosts Chattogram Abahani and tournament chief co-ordinator, said: “We have organized the tournament before and provided the prize money quickly every time. This time, we have not got all the money from the sponsors yet. We will keep in touch with them and send the prize money within a week.”
Delaying the transfer of prize money is not new in Bangladesh, as 2016 Bangabandhu Gold Cup winners Nepal had to wait for more than a year and half to receive their prize money from the BFF.
