Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society might have played the final of the season opening Federation Cup but were brought right back down to earth by Saif Sporting Club in the Bangladesh Premier League in Mymensingh’s Rafiq Uddin Stadium Friday.
Jamal Bhuiyan’s Saif edged the Old Dhaka outfit 1-0 with Rwanda’s Emery Baisenge netting the all-important goal at the hour mark with a bullet free kick from 30 yards.
Rahmatganj goalkeeper Liton was nothing but a helpless spectator as Emery’s set-piece crashed the back of the net to give Saif a win in their opening match of the top-flight.
Bashundhara Kings kicked off their Bangladesh Premier League campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over promoted Uttar Baridhara Club, thanks to Daniel Colindres’ late strike, followed by Yeasin Khan’s red card, at Sheikh Kamal Stadium in Nilphamari Thursdayhttps://t.co/fdwrbyNZMp#BFF

Golam Jilani’s Rahmatganj though could’ve taken the lead as early as the eighth minute but Tajikistan’s Ashrorove’s free-kick went inches over the crossbar.
Saif too could’ve broken the deadlock in the first half but Sazzad Hossain fluffed his lines at the half hour mark.
After resumption and taking the lead, Saif had the opportunity to double their advantage but Kyrgyzstan’s Murolimjon Akhmedov shot straight at the hands of Liton from outside the box.
