World football governing body Fifa and Asian Football Confederation have primarily accepted the Bangladesh Football Federation’s request to host the World Cup qualifier against Afghanistan, scheduled for March 26 this year, in Sylhet.

The game was originally slated for Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka but the BFF later changed the venue as the special Independence Day program is scheduled to be held there on the same day.

Ahead of the Afghan clash, Bangladesh head coach Jamie Day will arrive in the capital in the middle of this month, with the national camp scheduled to begin on March 15.
