The Bangladesh U-19 football team will leave for Bahrain Monday, to participate in the AFC U19 Championship 2020 qualifiers.
The announcement was made during a press conference at BFF House in Motijheel Sunday.
Bangladesh U-19 head coach Andrew Peter Turner said they will put up a strong fight against host Bahrain, as well as Jordan and Bhutan, in Group E.
“All of our group opponents are strong. I know, the task will not be easy. The players in the team are very bright, and I think we can fight. We might not be the group champion, but at least we will aim to be the runners-up”.
He added: “The team played two friendly matches in Qatar. In two games, we could not score a goal and the opponent got the goals by seizing their opportunities. The only difference here is the two groups. I do not want to make the same mistakes in Bahrain. That is how I am pushing the team. In practice, the errors have been worked out.”
Vice-captain Fahim Morshed said: "We are going to Bahrain with the aim of playing well. The experience of the Saaf U-18 Championship and Qatar will help here. Our opponents in the group are all strong, but our goal will be to do something good. ”
The young booters in red and green will return home next Monday.
