Bangladesh Football Federation vice president Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi put up a number of complaints on the financial irregularities of the country’s football governing body in the three years’ audit reports in front of the BFF House yesterday.

Mohi’s observation of the financial irregularities was based on the audit report of 2016, 2017 and 2018 that was passed in the executive committee meeting on August 24 ahead of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 16 and the BFF polls next year.

“The three years’ audit reports were presented as one of the agenda for the approval during the last executive committee meeting. Another vice president Badal Roy also disagreed with the audit reports in the meeting. The audit reports were not passed in the proper way.” Mohi told to the reporters.

A press release was also provided where it was mentioned that financial irregularities in 2016 report is Tk 8crore 61 lacs, Tk 5crore 65lacs in 2017 and 2crore 76lacs in 2018, totaling to Tk17crores in three years.

“There was some notable difference between what was shown in the report and what amount was actually spent. For example, if organizing an event cost Tk3lacs but in the reports it was shown 12lacs. Some of the vouchers were made on blank pages which can never be acceptable.” added Mohi.

Mohi also informed that during 2015 AGM, the councilors demanded to prepare budget every year and spend them accordingly but it was never followed while the audit reports of 2016 and 2017 and those were sent to the Fifa without approval of the executive committee.

BFF senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy is the chairman of the finance committee where Mohi is also a member. Salam said, “A BFF member may have observation on the audit reports but we tried to do it in proper way and there was no misdeed. Mohi is also a member of finance committee then why didn’t he put these complaints in the finance committee meeting?”

Mohi didn’t deny taking some of the responsibilities. “We must have the liabilities. Why submitting three years’ audit reports in one year in such a hurry? I also questioned this to the general secretary (Abu Nayeem Shohag). Whoever involved with this corruption should face disciplinary actions.”

Shohag is currently in Malaysia to join SAFF Congress 2019 in Kuala Lampur.
