RTV defeated Channel 24 in the tie-breaker 3-1 in the final to win the DRU Media Football Tournament at Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium Sunday.
The tournament was organized by Dhaka Reporters Unity, and sponsored by Walton Group.
In the final, the teams were tied at 2-2 after 90 minutes.
Masud Mostahid scored twice in the first half to take RTV ahead, but Channel 24 equalized after the break with goals from Maksud un Nabi and Sadman Sakib.
Shariat Khan, Masud and Sharif Uddin Limon netted for RTV in the tie-breaker, while Hasan Shuvro bagged the only goal for Channel 24.
RTV’s goalkeeper was declared the man of the match for saving a penalty, as well as notching one.
Channel i’s Rahul Roy scored five goals in the tournament and became the highest scorer.
Sadman of Channel 24 was awarded the player of the tournament trophy for his incredible performance throughout the competition.
Meanwhile, Barta24 won the fair-play trophy.
As champion, RTV received TK30,000, while runners-up Channel 24 got TK20,000.
A total of 40 media houses took part in this tournament.
The teams were divided into eight groups, and the group champions went through to play in the quarter-finals.
