The 14th Ascent Corporate 5-A-side Soccer Cup is set to begin on Wednesday. The initiative of the tournament was taken on 2006 to create a platform where corporate executives may play soccer and form friendships in the corporate world, thus tightens team bonding and network amongst industry colleagues.
The Ascent Group, which is a leading education-based group of companies, has been the title sponsor for the last 12 years. It is continuing the support to keep the tournament growing and make popular in the corporate World.
This year there are 54 corporate teams playing with a total of 540 players. The 5-A-Side football game is played by 8 players in a team with 5 playing at any given time on the pitch. No professional players are allowed to play in the tournament.
The games will be played at the Ascent Group’s Scholastica Uttara Campus and the finals are scheduled to be held on Saturday, August 3.
