Bangladesh U-23 football team beat Qatar top-flight outfit Al-Shahania Sporting Club 1-0 in a friendly Friday.
The men in red and green are currently undergoing a 10-day conditional camp in Qatar and this was the first of their two practice matches, ahead of the AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers in Bahrain.
Nofel Sporting Club forward Khandakar Ashraful Islam netted the all-important goal in the 86th minute from a corner from midfielder Rakib Hossain.
Ashraful’s placing shot found the back of the net after a deflection from an opposition defender.
Bangladesh thoroughly dominated the game, and got several chances, but a lack of finishing touch meant they had to be content with a 1-0 win against a side who regularly feature in the top positions of the Qatar League.
The visiting side will play their second and final warm-up Tuesday against Al-Arabi Club.
