Bangladesh national women’s team captain Sabina Khatun was confident before their first game of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2019 on March 14 in Biratnagar, Nepal.
Bangladesh will take on Bhutan in their first game Thursday at 3:15 pm Bangladesh time at Sahid Rangashala Stadium. The match will be telecast live on mycujoo.tv and AP1 HD (Nepalese television channel).
“We have adjusted very well now to our surroundings, the hotel food and the routine. We understand our responsibilities as members of the Bangladesh national team and look forward to our first game,” Sabina was quoted at Bangladesh Football Federation’s website on Wednesday.
“Our preparations have been focused on winning our first game. This is our priority,” she added.
Sabina’s deputy Mossamat Mishrat Jahan Moushumi also echoed her skipper ahead of the match.
“We have only the first game in our minds. We want to produce a performance which allows us to reach our objective,” said Moushumi.

Summing up his players’ comments, head coach Golam Rabbani Choton said, “The players are looking forward to our first game. The SAFF Championship is a special competition for us all.”
Ahead of the match, the Bangladesh team enjoyed a light training session at the match venue on Wednesday morning.
Surrounded by a large contingent of media personnel and journalists, the team rehearsed some of their set play tactics and game plans.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Bangladesh players took part in a training session after a meeting on Monday night. Then they went to see Bhutan’s first match where they lost by three goals to nil against hosts Nepal.
Bangladesh’s talented young defender Akhi Khatun mentioned “We enjoyed the opening game. It was an interesting occasion and we are all looking forward to starting our campaign in the tournament.”
