Newcomer Bashundhara Kings edged Arambagh Krira Sangha 3-2 in a Bangladesh Premier League thriller at Sheikh Kamal Stadium in Nilphamari Sunday.
Maruful Haque’s Arambagh took the lead in the 23rd minute of the tie through Arifur Rahman.
Arambagh’s joy however, lasted only two minutes when their own defender Jahidul Islam Babu put through his own net.
Independence Cup champion Bashundhara then scored two quickfire goals to extend the lead to 3-1.
Matin Mia made it 2-1 for the Kings in the 34th minute from a Daniel Colindres pass while Brazilian Marcos de Silva netted eight minutes later from an Alamgir Kabir Rana pass.

Kingsley reduced the arrears in the 53rd minute from a magnificent Zahid Hossain free-kick from the left flank.
Mathew Chinedu headed the set-piece towards Kingsley’s path and the latter made no mistake volleying home.
The Kings are top with 19 points from seven matches while defending champion Abahani Limited are second with 18 points from eight games.
Arambagh meanwhile, are fifth with 12 points from eight outings.
