Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra beat Nofel Sporting Club 2-0 in their Bangladesh Premier League match at Shaheed Bhulu Stadium in Noakhali Monday, thanks to a brace from Ivory Coast forward Ballo Famosa.

Muktis went ahead in just the third minute when Ballo headed home from a Yusuko Kato free kick from the left flank.

Nofel got a golden opportunity to equalise just five minutes later but Akbar Hossain Ridon headed straight into the hands of Muktijoddha goalkeeper Himel.

Muktis doubled their lead at the hour mark when Ballo deflected home after a shot from midfielder Mohammad Sohel.

In the process, Ballo rose to the top of the highest goal-scorers’ chart with five goals after netting a hat-trick in their 3-0 win over Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited.

Nofel could have reduced the margin in the dying stages of the tie but Eleta Benjamin’s header from a Masud Mridha free kick struck the post.

This was the third consecutive defeat for the newly promoted Nofel, who are yet to open their account.

In contrast, Muktis tasted their second win in four matches and rose to sixth position in the points table.
