Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra’s defensive strategy and lack of a finishing touch up front has become a common scene this season, which resulted in them finishing the group stage without scoring a single goal, while also conceding none.

The club’s head coach Saiful bari Titu is however, optimistic of recovering from the scoring problem after beating Chittagong Abahani Limited 2-0 in the Independence Cup quarter-final Wednesday.

“Both of our group opponents (Bashundhara Kings and Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited) were attacking sides, so we had to be cautious. We also had weakness in scoring from the beginning. We are trying to recover from it,” said Titu after the game.

“Our plan (against Chittagong Abahani) was to get an early goal and keep pressing the opponents so that they can’t settle. We did it and the credit goes to the players. We needed this comeback,” Titu added.

Sheikh Russel will face Brothers Union in the first semi-final next Wednesday.
